Remembering John Barlow and the Declaration of Independence of Cyberspace
February 8th 2024 marks 28 years from the day John Perry Barlow wrote the Declaration of Independence of Cyberspace. Strangely, just yesterday (February 7th, 2024) it was also 6 years since his death. John Perry Barlow was a poet, essayist, rancher, and cyberlibertarian political activist who went on to write some songs for The Grateful Dead and other artists, as well as being a co-founder of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, an international nonprofit group dedicated to defending digital civil rights on the internet. This project was created for a mentoring course at the Visual Arts Passage's Illustration Program with Wired magazine as a prompt. This is not an official Wired cover.
